Porter grew up in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, where his family always had boats. He discovered his passion for the water and the boating lifestyle at a young age. With over 15 years of experience in the boating industry, Porter’s career has taken him through various trades, from the auto industry to masonry. However, he has always been drawn back to being on the water and working with boats, where his true passion lies. Two years ago, Porter and his wife relocated to South Carolina, where he now works at Dataw Island Marina. In his spare time, Porter enjoys fishing on the water, has developed a newfound passion for golf, and cherishes moments spent with his wife and friends.

Introducing Captain Cubby Deas, a native of South Africa whose deep-rooted passion for the ocean was cultivated through a love for surfing. Embarking on a yachting and sailing journey 15 years ago, Captain Cubby now holds a 200-ton unlimited license, showcasing the depth of expertise acquired over the years.

His maritime odyssey began by sailing Leopard catamarans across the vast expanses of the Indian and Atlantic oceans. The spirit of adventure led him to join an expedition boat, contributing to a National Geographic documentary in the picturesque waters of Mozambique. It was in Mozambique that Captain Cubby fell in love with the exhilarating side of ocean life, subsequently becoming a fishing charter captain for a fulfilling two-year stint.

The journey continued to the Bahamas and South Florida, where Captain Cubby transitioned to the world of super yachting. Taking command of a 101ft busy charter yacht in the Exuma’s, he seamlessly blended the thrill of adventure with the sophistication of luxury yachting.

Throughout his career, Captain Cubby has amassed extensive knowledge across various facets of luxury yachts and sailing vessels, particularly emphasizing the intricacies of yacht engineering. I was born and raised in Port Huron, Michigan, where I developed my love for the Great Lakes and my passion for everything boating. For me, nothing is better than a day spent relaxing on Lake Huron, anchored on a sandbar with family and friends, or motoring down the St. Clair River for a nice evening meal. Having owned and operated boats of all shapes and sizes, the lifetime memories my family and I have created, and the friendships we have made by being part of the boating community are priceless.

My first career (35 years) was in supply chain and operations roles that took me all over the United States. During those years, I learned the fine art of negotiation, listening, setting expectations, and meeting goals. I’d like to think that I am a compassionate and caring “art of the deal” professional that communicates well and follows through. Rest assured that I am 100% focused on your complete satisfaction.

Captain Kris, a seasoned and dedicated maritime professional, hails from the picturesque waters of Rhode Island. As a third-generation sailor, he has a rich heritage and a profound connection to the sea, having spent his formative years on the water. Kris has transformed this passion into a distinguished 20-year career in the yachting industry, serving as both an engineer and a captain.

Throughout his career, Captain Kris has played a pivotal role in helping yacht owners fully embrace and enjoy the unique experience of yacht ownership. His extensive knowledge and hands-on approach ensure that each voyage is safe, smooth, and memorable.

Captain Kris holds a prestigious 200-ton USCG Master’s License, underscoring his expertise and commitment to maritime safety and excellence. Currently based in the vibrant yachting hub of Fort Lauderdale, he continues to navigate the seas, providing unparalleled service and expertise to yacht owners and their guests.

Now, leveraging his extensive maritime background, Captain Kris has transitioned into the boat brokerage industry. His deep understanding of the yachting world equips him to offer invaluable advice to prospective yacht buyers. His recommendations are grounded in a wealth of practical experience, ensuring that clients receive informed and trustworthy guidance when making their yacht purchase decisions.

Tom Leiper has been an entrepreneur, inventor, and pioneering sales master with over forty years of experience primarily in the medical imaging and informatics industry. Even before driving age he apprenticed building and blueprinting high-performance race engines and drive trains, foundational knowledge and experience that served him well years later as a pilot and boat owner.

Awarded eight patents, including a patent for the Sherlock® Marine Surveyor Percussion Sounding Hammer, and having been involved in many interesting technical fields over the years there is little he does not understand about how things work.

More importantly, having closed over 200 deals in the past six years he knows what to do when things do not work, whether those be difficulties with a vessel, a deal, or those involved in the deal.

In short, Tom is a problem solver, and as one whose success has been marked by exquisitely satisfying the needs of his customers, Tom has brought his experience and innovative skill set to this avocation, helping boaters become better boaters with better boats, with the same dedication as he has with every other endeavor, the most common feedback among his many clients and associates being that he is “Unlike any other boat broker they have ever known.”

Growing up on Long Island’s South Shore, Bob developed a passion for boats and the boating lifestyle. He and his family enjoy cruising the Great South Bay and spending weekends in Fire Island marinas on their Formula 40PC.

Originally, as a Knot 10 customer, Bob experienced both the buying and selling processes through the eyes of the client. He was very impressed with our team and how smoothly everything went which is part of the reason he chose to work for Knot 10.

Bob is a detail-oriented mechanical engineer with 30 years of experience in sales, high-level customer service, and business management.

Steve has been navigating the waters of the Long Island Sound for the past 18 years. With his extensive background in managing commercial electrical work along with his love of the water, he brings his experience and attention to detail into the brokerage world. When not actively working for his buyers/sellers, you can find Steve along with his wife Andrea, cruising on their Formula 40PC.
