1997 Silverton 41 Convertible

This freshwater only (4th owner) vessel that has been well maintained and won’t last at this price. It is powered by twin 502XLI fuel injected Crusader inboards rated at 415 HP each with approximately 1000 hours. This vessel has the same exact hull as a 42 ft convertible.

The Silverton 41 Convertible has a solid, hand-laid fiberglass hull, white gel-coat topsides, black bottom paint, and stainless steel bow and grab rails. The flybridge is accessed by a port side ladder from the cockpit. There are two “Silverton Yachts” helm seats, with guest seating forward of the helm station. The flybridge has a windshield, console controls, a lockable VHF overhead locker, and electronics mounted in the helm station console.

The salon is entered through a curtained sliding glass door. The large side windows, with neutral colored blinds, provide ample natural light, and give the entire salon a large and open feeling.

There is a brown recliner and a wood and Corian table in the salon. The headliner and all upholstered trim and wall panels are new and give the entire salon an upscale decorator appearance. There is a built-in U-Line icemaker on the starboard wall.

The portside wall has a counter top TV, storage cabinets, and the electrical panel access.

There is a smoked glass wall forward to starboard that looks down on the dinette, and a Corian countertop forward to port that overlooks the galley. The salon features AC/heat controls, a CO2 detector, a fire extinguisher, and a mounted VHF radio.

The engine room is accessed through the carpeted salon floor hatches.

This vessel features a forward master stateroom with neutral decorator carpeting. There is ample storage with three cabinets on either side of the queen-sized centerline berth, three under-bed drawers, and a cedar-lined hanging locker to port. There is also a small shelf and mirror to port, two reading lights, an overhead screened hatch, AC/heat controls, a CO2 detector, access to the anchor locker, a wall mounted TV, and a mirrored door into the head which makes the master stateroom ensuite.

The guest cabin is located portside across from the head, has a classic over/under double berth configuration. There are four drawers and a cabinet with shelves for storage. The neutral decorator carpet matches the carpeting in the Master Stateroom. Natural lighting is provided by a hatch.

The single head can be accessed from the companionway or the Master Stateroom. It features a separate stall shower with full enclosure and an overhead hatch, a molded sink and counter, a vanity mirror, a full length mirror on the companionway door, a Dometic electric toilet, a shelf over the toilet and towel bars. There is storage under the vanity, in a large medicine cabinet and in a cabinet with sliding doors behind the sink.

This vessel has a “galley-down” layout, with the galley forward to port of he salon, down three steps. The counters are neutral colored Corian; the sole looks like wood, but is an easy-care vinyl. The molded sink has a faucet with a versatile spray hose. There is a good amount of cabinet and drawer storage, as well as a spice cabinet.

Cooking can be done on the flush-mount Princess electric two burner stove (with a wood cutting board cover), or in the built-in Magic Chef microwave oven. The refrigerator/freezer is a Norcold, with 12 VDC/110 VAC dual voltages.

The dinette is conveniently located across from the galley, to starboard. There is ample storage under the bench cushions, or in the cabinet on the starboard side wall. The table is high-low and can be converted to an additional berth, but no cushions are available. The neutral colored decorator carpet matches the staterooms.

The large front windows over the galley and dinette provide an abundance of natural light.

The Catalina 42 has earned an international reputation as the leader in her class. By leading in design, cruising performance, and comfort, the Catalina 42 has become the choice of sailors worldwide. The latest Catalina 42markI is the logical result of America’s most experienced sailboat builder continuing to listen carefully to the needs and desires of experienced sailors. All sailors want speed under sail, easy motion and sure, predictable handling characteristics. For sure tracking, a long horizontal skeg runs aft between the fin or wing keel and the rudder. The elliptical rudder is large and balanced, ensuring control in all conditions, whether under sail or power. The hull of the 42 mkI is high volume, and easily driven, with a fine entry, firm midship section, and smooth run aft terminating in a modified reverse transom. The step down boarding platform has a fold-down swim ladder and two lockers that also serve as seats. Impressive speed under power is realized by the dependable four cylinder diesel engine. Complete access to all power plant maintenance areas is quick and convenient. The Catalina 42 mkI deck was designed with short-handed sailing in mind. All the halyards, the ball bearing mainsheet and the single line main reefing controls are led to the cockpit and placed to be operated from under the canvas dodger when necessary. The wide weather decks and inboard shroud base make passage forward easy and secure. Mainsheet furling is available in both mast and boom configurations. Generous storage and tankage allow for extended cruising possibilities. Two heads, each with their own holding tank, allow you to spend more time offshore. Cruising options include an additional fuel tank. and a diesel generator and fiberglass canvas dodger. In continuous production since 1988, the 42 has proved the strength of her design and construction to sailors worldwide. Besides investing in one of the best buys in a new boat, the past history has shown the Catalina 42 has consistently held high resale value when it comes time for your next Catalina. There are four available interior plans for the Catalina 42 mkI, each planned to suit your personal sailing lifestyle. Interior arrangements offer your choice of two or three staterooms. When selecting a two or three stateroom model, our owners can then further specify either of two different owners’ compartment/head layouts. Both of these compartments are forward of the mast, and let you decide if your prefer a traditional double pullman berth, with head forward, or a centerline berth with pedestal double berth and head aft, with private entrance. All cabin arrangements feature varnished teak jointery and ash side paneling on the hull. Excellent light and ventilation are provided naturally from aluminum framed opening hatches and ports. Numerous recessed halogen lights offer an inviting ambiance. Recognized the world over as the number one production sailboat over 40 feet, the Catalina 42 is the boat dreams are charted on
