Dayton grew up in mid Missouri with an instant attraction for water. His summers were spent on the Lake of the Ozarks where he began working with and captaining boats at the age of 14. He and his wife, Bailey moved to southeast Florida in 2018 to pursue his dream of being a yacht captain and being on the water.
He has worked on a range of vessels the largest LOA was a 164ft Trinity. He was able to learn much during this period as he helped run seven boats in a private fleet from 164ft to 21ft. He started as a deck hand and was prompted over time, up to Bosun, 2nd in command. During this time Dayton earned his 100 Ton Masters license. They spent five months in the Caribbean, months in the Bahamas, and the FL Keys. This period of time taught him a lot about yacht systems, equipment, maintenance, the marine market and himself. The yacht spent half of the year out at sea so when he and his wife found out they had their first son due in May 2020, it was time to find a new niche closer to home. Dayton is looking forward to the new challenge and can’t wait to get started.
