2017 Sea Ray SLX-W 230

The Sea Ray 230 SLX-W is a 23 foot inboard specially designed for wake surfing. Its 370 Mercury V8 has both the power and torque for the sport, which occurs at lower speeds (9 – 12 mph is optimal) while carrying 2000 gallons of ballast. The boat, which has a top speed of about 40 mph, is also optimal for wake boarding and water skiing.

The inboard propulsion system provides a safe platform for wake surfing, which occurs close behind the boat, an option unavailable with stern drives or outboards.

The boat boasts a Dynamic Display touchscreen, which controls all the boat’s basic functions but also gives you full control over the surf settings and the shape of the wave. Tapping the push-button surf setting automatically controls the boat’s speed and wave setting without need for further driver input – just engage the throttle and the boat handles the rest.

Wake surfing is especially appealing because it is done at low speeds, making starts and re-entry into the water a breeze. After being pulled up, the surfer can drop the rope and surf the wave with no further pull on their shoulders. This boat also has the optional tow tower with two speakers facing backwards towards the surfer, a Bimini to shade the boat, and a handy trunk to store boards and gear.
