Overview
Rarely does a large stabilized Hatteras LRC come on the market. 1 of only 13 built, this 65 is a nice example of a long range cruiser with the pedigree of a Hatteras and the ability to cruise long distance while sipping fuel with the Detroit 6-71 Naturals delivering 225 hp while cruising at 7.5-8 knots with a range of 2300 nautical miles.
A heavily built cruiser it takes comfort and security to a new level. The spacious four stateroom interior features a fully enclosed pilothouse, extravagant owner’s suite with private salon access, and a full-beam walk-in engine room. The Portuguese bridge protects against any oncoming seas. The enclosed aft deck overlooks a small cockpit perfect for lounging in the sun, fishing, or line handling.
This 65 LRC was taken on its own bottom to Europe over 25 years ago where the prior owner enjoyed her for many years. The current owners bought the boat in France and had her shipped to the USA. A testament to the reputation of a Hatteras 65 LRC.
Onboard are all manuals, schematics, and ship drawings from Hatteras Yachts when built.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Beginning aft of the transom, a fiberglass swim platform enables ease of boarding the vessel from a tender or floating dock. A transom door with gate allows access to the cockpit storage lazarette and docking controls. Up 3 steps and forward, is a line-handling deck and a zippered flap in the eisenglass allows access to the soft enclosed and covered aft deck. The aft-deck may be "opened" with wing-doors, roll-up eisenglass curtains aft and side windows which slide to open. This area is particularly pleasant for enjoying relaxed and casual dining for up to 10 persons, while enjoying the views of whatever scenic paradise your voyage has taken you too.
Dual hinged doors lead forward and into the main salon. On port-side, a stairway leads down to the private master stateroom which features a center line queen-size bed, large head with en-suite shower and tub, two large cedar lined hanging lockers, and two chests of drawers The master stateroom is separated and private from the guest accommodations by the full beam, walk-in engine room which is forward of the stateroom. A stacked washer and dryer are in the laundry center cabinet the companionway between the stateroom and the engine room.
Back to the Salon, two comfortable chairs are on the starboard side and the entertainment center is all the way forward. Aft is an antique desk. Along the starboard side is a large settee with storage under the cushions. Just forward of the settee is a bulkhead with an opening into the galley separating from the salon. The galley being open to the salon enables casual dining and an open, friendly, and inviting environment for the chef/cook, guests. And crew. Across from the galley on the starboard side is a tall and large pantry locker and a wet bar with a large storage cabinet and granite countertop. Forward is the pilothouse with center-line helm, a long cushioned bench seat for the captain and crew, port and starboard side doors, ladder to the flybridge and a stairway leading down to the forward guest staterooms.
Starting all the way forward and just aft of the chain locker is the 3rd guest stateroom/crew quarters with large over/under bunk berths, en-suite head with shower, a teak chest of drawers and dual hanging lockers. A companionway leads aft to the VIP and the second guest staterooms. Both staterooms have matching single twin berths, good storage for clothing. The port-side (VIP) guest stateroom has a private entrance into the spacious guest head and shower, large cedar-lined hanging locker, and drawer storage under each berth. This head is shared with the starboard-side guest stateroom through a door leading in from the companionway.
The fly-bridge is accessed via a teak ladder which leads up from the pilothouse. A custom top covers and protects the center-line helm station and guest seating from the weather, The large boat-deck follows aft of the covered fly-bridge with a davit for the dingy.
GALLEY: The large U-shaped galley is on the main level between the pilothouse and the salon. The galley offers excellent food preparation and storage spaces that will please the onboard chef. An opening in the bulkhead facing aft keep the chef in touch with those onboard.
